The UK’s electric vehicle (EV) charging network has expanded rapidly in 2025, growing by 23% and adding more than 15,000 new chargers across the country. This milestone makes it easier than ever for drivers to travel with confidence, knowing they can plug in almost anywhere.

Between October 2024 and October 2025:
- Public EV charging devices grew by 23.4% outside London.
- London saw a 21.7% increase.
Home EV Charging for Renters and Residents Without Driveways
The government is consulting on plans to make home EV charging easier for renters and households without driveways.
- Proposed changes could save £250 in planning fees.
- Running costs could drop to 2p per mile — just £2.50 from London to Birmingham.
- Supported by a £25 million scheme for cross‑pavement channels.
- Backed by a £381 million rollout of 100,000 more public chargepoints across England.
