3 Phase CEE to Type 2 Portable Charger. 32A 400V 22kW. 10A, 16A, 26A, 32A

Item Description and Specification

Type 2 Commando Charging Cable 32A 3 Phase 22kW

Type 2 32A 3 Phase Commando EV charger with a red 5-pin 3-phase 32A CEE plug. Buy a 3-phase mobile charger cable that connects to the red 32A 3-phase CEE / Commando sockets located in places such as industrial units, office buildings and marinas. The charger has adjustable single phase and 3 Phase current setings from 10A to 32A. An EVA cable carry case is included for storing the charger and the unit has a bracket if you want to mount the unit indoors on a wall. Please check your red CEE socket before buying. This EV charging cable is not suitable for the 3 Phase (400V) CEE 16A socket. Click here if you require the 3 Phase 400V 16A 11kW CEE charging cable.

The CEE charging cable provides a charge of up to 22kW for faster charging. If your vehicle is single phase or 3 Phase and accepts 3kW, 7kW, 11kW or 22kW, this charger will provide the correct current. The 32A 3 Phase CEE plug is not compatible with the 400V 16A socket. Please ensure that the 3 Phase 32A CEE plug is connected directly to the 3 Phase 32A CEE socket and the socket where you charge your vehicle is certified by a qualified electrician to ensure that the power outlet and circuit is safe for regular EV charging and is protected against the causes of overheating. Do not use an adapter/converter or extension lead. This charger is manufactured to the IEC 62752 standard with built in 30mA AC detection and 6mA DC detection (Type B protection). This charger can therefore be used with a circuit protected by the minimum Type A or F RCD.

Multiple safeguards are built in with the 3 Phase CEE charger to ensure that both your electric vehicle and power outlet is protected while charging:

  • Overvoltage Protection
  • Undervoltage Protection
  • Lightning Protection
  • Waterproof IP55
  • PCB Temperature Sensor
  • Overheating Protection
  • Leakage Protection
  • Overcurrent Protection

This CEE 3 Phase charging cable has adjustable current and and can charge at 10A, 16A, 26A and 32A. There is also a delayed charging timer that allows charging to begin between 1 to 10 hours after the Commando and Type 2 plugs have been plugged in. The charger can be used with a 5 pin 32A 380V - 415V CEE / Commando socket and complies with the IEC 62752 standard for charging the Type 2 socket range of electric vehicles. You should check with your manufacturer handbook to check whether your vehicle needs to use a specific portable charger for your vehicle.

What is variable charging?

This CEE charger can adjust the current, enabling faster charging at 3 Phase 32A or slower charging at 10A, dependent upon the Onboard charger of your EV or PHEV. Therefore, if your vehicle is single phase or 3 Phase and accepts 3kW, 7kW, 11kW or 22kW, this charger will provide the correct current. The charger will automatically stop charging the battery of your electric vehicle once it has reached the required charge setting or when it is fully charged.

The length it will take to recharge the battery for your EV will depend on the battery that your electric vehicle is equipped with. Using your socket to charge regularly over long durations can cause thermal damage if the socket / wiring is not suitable.

Charging cable checklist

To ensure that the cable you purchase is right for you, please read the following checklist:

  • Make sure the charging cable is compatible with your vehicle. The photos at the top of the page show you what the pins in the connectors look like so you can match the cable to your vehicle.
  • Make sure that the length of the cable is sufficient to reach the charging socket of your vehicle. We recommend allowing at least half a metre so that the cable is not overstretched.
  • Please check whether the CEE socket for the CEE plug is suitable for this charging cable. A 1-phase CEE socket has 3 holes. A 3-phase CEE socket has 5 holes. Your CEE socket must also match the amperage of the CEE plug. This information can usually be found on the cover of the CEE socket. If you are not sure, please send us a photo of your socket and the socket cover.

How to use the variable 32A 3 Phase charger

Please read the safety information in the user manual included with this charger before using it. If you do not receive this information, please contact us. Using this Commando socket charger is straightforward and the instructions are also available in the user booklet. Simply plug the device into into the CEE outlet to power the device. The display will light up. The required ampere setting can be selected by clicking the amp button. Select the ampere setting to match your power outlet. The timer setting can also be set at this point. Connect the vehicle charging plug to your EV. The setting is 'locked in' and will be remembered the next time you use it. To change the setting, repeat the above procedure. Your vehicle software will communicate with the device and only draw the maximum amount of power that the battery can accept.
